An Historical Speaker

Special Lenten Evening Event!

The Rev. John Rankin - abolitionist and Presbyterian pastor -

will be the featured evening speaker, reenacted by Ron St. Pierre. Ron is a member of Worthington Presbyterian Church. Also, he is a retired professor and senior administrator from the Ohio State University and Capital University in Columbus, Ohio. He has been a volunteer at the Ohio Historical Society for the past eleven years in the Interpretive Education Division.

Currently, Ron is part of the Echoes in Time Theatre. Over the years he has portrayed other historical figures in first person such as: Dr. D. Willard Bliss – Ohio born and educated physician who attended President James A. Garfield after was shot and wounded ; Professor Clement Clark Moore – author of the poem, “A Visit From St. Nicholas” also known as “T’was the Night Before Christmas.” In addition to these historic characters, he has created fictional characters for the Historical Society’s educational programs such as The Underground Railroad, School Days and Oh, Those Victorians.

The program is suitable for the entire family. Child care for younger family members will be provided.

A potluck dinner at 6:30 p.m. will proceed the program which will be at 7:30 p.m.

A signup sheet will be in the Knox Hallway in February so suitable plans can be made for seating and menu.
